STOTS’ NEWS UPDATE

As per the decision of the Holy Episcopal Synod (Feb 2019), Rev. Fr. Dr. Jossi Jacob will be appointed as the New Principal of St. Thomas Orthodox Theological Seminary (STOTS), Nagpur from the second semester of the next academic year (2019-20). Respected Jossi Achen will take over as the Principal from December 1st 2019. Currently Achen is a faculty and the director of doctoral program offered by Holy Trinity Theological University, Addis Ababa.
Rev. Fr. Dr. Bijesh Philip, who joined the faculty of STOTS in 1996, and is serving as the Principal since last nine years will continue to serve as the Principal till Nov 30th, 2019.  Bijesh Achen’s second term of 5 years as Principal will be over next academic year.
The next convocation of the seminarians and the students of Sathyajyothi Online Theological programme will be held at STOTS, Nagpur on August 27th 2019. H.H. Baselios Marthoma Paulose II Bava Thirumeni will preside over the convocation and bless us.   Vice President of the Seminary, H.G. Geevarghese Mar Coorilos Metropolitan and all of the OKR dioceses’ Metropolitans will grace the occasion which coincides with the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the seminary.
The recently published book of the Seminary ‘Thoughtful Quotes for Fruitful Life’ which is a collection of the wise sayings of H.G. Dr. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios and H.G. Dr. Paulos Mar Gregorios with introductory notes on their teachings is available for sale at MOC Books, Kottayam and also at STOTS, Nagpur.
The three days’ Lenten Retreat at the seminary was led by Rev. Fr. Thomas Chacko (Manoj Achen), Diocesan secretary of Bombay Diocese.
STOTS whole heartedly acknowledges with gratitude the financial support given by ICON Charities (Rupees four lakhs), for the solar project installed at the seminary.
Seminary is grateful to St. George Orthodox Church, Dallas and MMVS of a few parishes in Dallas region for the generous donations towards the welfare of the seminary students.  Also the seminary family is thankful to the OCYM of St. George Orthodox Church, Dallas for sponsoring many books for the seminary Library.
